atproto-blob A screenshot of an excerpt of a personaldissertation of a look between a Venn Diagramof two almost completely overlapping circlesof Maria Von Trapp & Mary Poppins (Part 2): Itisn’t until the very next scene that becauseof this, her life duties that day were delayed(once again apparently) to the dismay of herfellow sisters at the nunnery. They’reapparently distraught with their self imposedconundrum of the almost riddle like questionof “how do you solve a problem likeMaria?” The ‘problem’ of Maria, according to the nuns, is she sees the beautyof the world and lets it guide her to becomeevangelical about that beauty, even if itmeans doing it when she’s supposed to remainsilent. It wasn’t until her one on one withone nun that’s basically telling her she’snot a good fit for their organization. She is,for all intents and purposes, an anomalywithin their dogmatic practices & clockworkpiety. Maria confesses, I’m not sure ifit’s considered a sin to them or justfrowned upon, her action of celebrating, whatshe says was beyond her power to control, theoverwhelming enchantment of being in thehills. It just happened, and, despite theconsequences, she let it happen, with no onearound. She fights the suggestion that sheshould leave the world of the nuns, and pleadsto remain the most beautiful bird in the cageof the house of god. To delay action againsther, they send her on an assignment to becomegoverness to seven children.
